Accreditation is coming up for the USMMA, and the process will begin without a Provost at the Academy. There has not been a Provost at Kings Point since Admiral Ballard left several months ago. While the USMMA has been going through the process of trying to hire a replacement, is there anything being done to streamline the hiring process at MARAD/DOT, especially for such an essential, critical position as Provost?
Sources at the USMMA have indicated that there are currently 30-40 faculty positions that have been unfilled for a significant amount of time, creating the need for current faculty members to work overtime to oversee the instructional courseload for those unfilled positions. Is MARAD aware of this issue, and if so, what is being done to mitigate the problem?
